Eggshells have about 93% Calcium. Calcium aids in circulation, hormone distribution, muscular movement, neuron transmission and intracellular communication. Eggshells also contain strontium, which may support bone health. Eggshells have magnesium, which is good for bones, regulates blood pressure and keeps the heart beating steadily. They have other mineral elements like iron, phosporus, silicon, sodium, potassium, sulfur, aluminum and more. 1/2 teaspoon of eggshell powder has about 400 mg of absorbable calcium which is a mineral responsible for bone health.
The shell membrane contains
Hyloronic acid and Glucosamine which improve joint elasticity and shock absorption. All that, is what makes them ideal for fighting off conditions that affect the joints which in turn keep them functioning as fully as possible.
Some studies have shown that eating eggshells can prevent and treat arthritis and osteoporosis in humans and animals.
You ARE what you eat is so true when it comes to eggs from chickens. If I fortify my chickens with Kefir, Kombucha, live worms, probiotics, fodder and a healthy lifestyle, the eggs they produce for me are going to be by far, exceptional. The chicken produces the egg, which includes the eggshell. All the vitamins and minerals are jam packed into the eggshell as well, only people are just starting to realize their potential as a natural healer for our bodies. Eggshells can be used as toothpaste and for animals as well. Eggshells can be corrosive so they need to be made into a powder in my opinion for safety. They also should be used for their best potential along with vitamin D because this helps with bio-availability.
